High speed driving mental toll

Before I start, I want to say we really love the great white north and not be called a wascist. My deep olive color skin after being in the sun kinda gives me away from not being 'round here, yump.

We just got back from our latest trip up north, and it was to Bethal Maine. 4 freaking hours up there, eh? I was slightly afraid of being shot at as a black man by anyone that just casually did that side eye thing that makes colors appear darker than they really are.

Pleased to announce I survived.

Over the last 4 days I have probably spent 16 hours in the driver seat heading to a cabin rental up in Bethel Maine with the wife and our 5 year old Grandson.. I love both of them to death, will kill anyone that tries to harm them, yet there was a couple times I wanted to steer the car over a cliff., anyway!

Maine has a 70 MPH speed limit on many areas of it's bumfuck highway system, and the wife wanted to stop in Wells for Congdon's donuts. I was cruising comfortably at 90+ MPH for HOURS coming out of Bethal, and the moment I hit the exit and stopped, my brain almost seizured. It literally threw me for a loop and I felt dizzy, got instant sweats that lasted for a short time before my body readjusted to the meager 30 mph.

Anyone else ever experience the same?

Maine seems like a decent place for a long weekend in the summer. Other than that: meh.

I drove through 15 miles of construction at night in the rain with highly reflective cones on either side. When I got stopped and shut my eyes, I could still see the cones flashing by.

I'm going to call you slow. I wish there was a way for me to film the route me and Billings took when I was driving my dad's corvette. We were 16 or 17, 1972 corvette 454 cubic inch , when stock was rated 425 horse power , I think? so my dad as soon as he got it took it to local engine guy, known for building twin turbocharge , supercharged volkswagons of all theings. took all smog crap off , balanced and blueprinted it, headers, all sorts of shit, he estimated it was 1200 horsepower but it was geared for the highway. Not too long after that my brother in law took me with him up to the mall parking lot, I was maybe 11 at the time. We did burnouts with it that were the length of the mall parking lot , probably about a mile. After 2 or 3 we drove home, and when my dad saw the tires a week or so later, no rubber it was to the steel. Needless to say, my brother in law never was able to drive it again. But it wasn't fast off the line, wasn't geared that way, but from 70 to 140 or more, happened quick. So me and Billigs go down the local road smoking bong got to 120 , handed him the bong , and we got to 140, and this was a curvy road with small ups and downs. Wonder we weren't killed, but now I'm always speed limit. When I put a new crate motor in my prostreet el camino with a 6 -71 blower and some other minor stuff, about 850 horsepower i took it to 100 on local Main drag type haighway, actually it was I-94 before I-94 was invented and I said never again. As soon as I got on it, immediately have to shift to second and I'm doing 80 at that point and immediately hit 100 , probably 3 seconds? extremely fast, and I said never again, I must have gotten smarter because it scared me enough to never do it again.
