What blows me away is the realism of the painters during the Renaissance period. I mean, how is that possible? You can even see the textures of their skin.

I think that we have all seen these kinds of paintings and I don't really get them either. If there is any merit to them at all, to me, it is the fact that they seem to uniformly spread the colors out so that there isn't one specific part that draws your attention. It doesn't look like there is too much red here or too little blue here, etc. Other than that, it seems to be people attempting to give meaning to a waste of time.Stapes wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 3:29 pm

Quite a while back a guy took a white car and put black pin striping on it. The pinstripes were 1/8 inch wide with no more than 1/32 inch space between them. He considered it art. The critique from other people was" he painted a white car black with a very small brush".
