Dude, come on now. Trump was on TV 2 weeks ago saying Corona wasn't really a problem, it'll be gone in a couple of weeks, and people don't really have anything to worry about.
I missed that then. so during the first week of march he said this virus would be gone in a couple of weeks?
WTC was one of his advisors back then.
i suspect that comment (by RD) was 99.9% bullshit.

It was. As usual, taken out of context. He was simply trying to reassure jittery nerves with a confident message. You know like every President facing a crisis going back to Washington. But you know, the TDS. This is by far the most idiotic display by the American public that blows away #2. Got off work on Friday, December 31st, 1999. Stopped by an HEB on the way home to grab maybe 10-15 items for the weekend. Got in the 15 items or less aisle. Took almost an hour to check out. Idiots buying TP by the cases, massive water, carts overflowing with food. Because you know Y2K- everything was going to blow up in 6 hours, Their cars wouldn't work after midnight, etc etc. JC

Guess who?
"So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people, and we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. "

yeah, i get it. more misinformation and cherry picking comments. I "think" what he said was "let's just wait and see. It might get better, but it might get much worse. We just have to wait and see. No one knows for sure at this point. At some point it will just go away though. Like a miracle.". And I think he said that in late February when there were less than 100 cases in the US, most of which were brought here in quarantine. There was not one ounce of his intention in any of that (which you refer to) that he insinuated that the virus would be "gone in 2 weeks". That is WTC level stupid, there.

And:
We were asking for 2.5 Billion, and we think that’s a lot, but the Democrats and I guess Senator Schumer wants us to have much more than that. And normally in life, I’d say, “We’ll take it, we’ll take it.” If they want to give more, we’ll do more. We’re going to spend whatever’s appropriate. Hopefully, we’re not going to have to spend so much, because we really think we’ve done a great job in keeping it down to a minimum. And again, we’ve had tremendous success, tremendous success beyond what people would have thought.

Mr. President, CDC said yesterday that they believe it’s inevitable that the virus will spread in the United States, and it’s not a question of if, but when. Do you agree with that assessment?
Donald Trump: (29:27)
Well, I don’t think it’s inevitable. It possibly will. It could be at a very small level or it could be at a larger level. Whatever happens, we’re totally prepared. We have the best people in the world. You see that from the study we have the best prepared people, the best people in the world. Congress is willing to give us much more than we’re even asking for. That’s nice for a change, but we are totally ready, willing and able. It’s a term that we use, it’s ready, willing, and able. It’s going to be very well under control. Now. It may get bigger, it may get a little bigger. It may not get bigger at all. We’ll see what happens, but regardless of what happens, we’re totally prepared, please.

Our governor just set a 8 PM to 5 AM curfew.
Right now it's sort of a suggestion. But I bet it'll become mandatory if folks look like they're ignoring it.
i heard on the radio at lunch that somewhere they said they had their first case of a person that refused to quarantine. So, (in their words) they had to do a "forced quarantine". I assumed they were talking about CaptainQuint.
Why would you assume that?

Let's at least keep this in perspective.
Trump, Feb. 10: Now, the virus that we’re talking about having to do — you know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat — as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April. We’re in great shape though. We have 12 cases — 11 cases, and many of them are in good shape now.

"A lot of people are saying" and "A lot of people are telling me" are Trumpisms for "I have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about".

And again without any brainwashing I interpret the first statement I posted to mean "So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people, and we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. "

It was Trump minimizing the risk while not knowing what he was talking about, in response to a question telling him that the CDC said it was inevitable.
