I can't say "this upset", because they were not anyone that I knew of prior to the shootings. But I was saddened and angered to hear that people lost their lives over politics. Just like Charlie, they had families, and certainly didn't deserve to die.

Charlie was someone I followed and admired, so this hit harder.

I had no hatred towards him, only that some of his words seemed to belie his supposed Christian lifestyle.

I did not like his message, but I would never think it'd be a proper position to try to stop him from expressing it.

I believe very strongly in the marketplace of ideas. You put yours out, and maybe there are those who buy them and maybe there aren't.

Seem like the shooter took a different aspect to all that. But I don't think the shooter did any kind of "good" thing by his actions.

He was quoting a Biblical verse, though he also tried to walk that back after being accused of cherry-picking such verses for his own narrative, and while accusing his opponents of the same thing.

QD, you know a lot of those are either wrong or completely out of context. For example Stephen King already apologized and removed his tweet claiming the stoning gay people thing because Kirk never actually said it. I'd bet your list is from a left wing site. Take a deep dive into some of those. For example #18. It is estimated that 6 million Jews died during the Holocaust. This year alone there have been over 31 million abortions world wide. Think about how many have taken place over the past 30 years. That comes out to about 900,000,000 abortions. In that context isn't abortion worse? That doesn't mean the Holocaust wasn't horrible and that's not what he's saying. I could do the same with almost all of those.
