Your position that the police should shoot as soon as they have an excuse is what the country is protesting about. Then the let him drive away and scoop him up later option goes away and you still have the other options. The point here is that the shoot him dead option is the last one, that's what the US police don't grasp. It's not in their training or attitude. You saw the video of british police taking on a crazy nut with a knife right? In the US he'd have been told to drop it then shot dead when he didn't, but there are in fact other options. And he was actually being threatening with the knife.

well, let's see, he was getting in the car and the kids were inside. so shooting out the tires wouldn't have done any good. it would be tough to throw a net over a dude in a car. um. tripping him wouldn't work. i'm just saying that there must have been some bad ass shit fixing to go down for that cop to pump 7 shots into him. Either that or the cop is a complete psychopath.
