Why don't we just hang a sign on the Statue of Liberty that says "We are a bunch of Cunts". Sure I get it....we got the cash but do we have to be such blatant assholes about it?

This is the kind of right wing nationlistic bullshit that makes other countries want to blow us off the face of the planet. I hope we don't ever have to go begging hat in hand for help from them. They will rightly tell us to go fuck off.

We didn't use to be like this as a country. We didn't flaunt our wealth or military power. We led by example. We had manners. We had etiquette. We ended wars...we didn't start them. We talked softly and carried a big stick.

When did we become this fake chest thumping blowhard that shoves an American Flag anywhere one will fit?

We're like a neighbor who won the lottery....we were happy for them....then they started talking down to you and telling you all the things they bought and the trips they go on....Now you hope they choke on their cash.

There is no reason to have an "America First" executive order.....the vaccines weren't going overseas.....it's just propaganda for the base and its in horrible bad taste. Some of you make me sick.

Classic Flumper tactic

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog ... nipulative.

Why Gaslighters Accuse You of Gaslighting

Gaslighters — people who try to control others through manipulation — will often accuse you of behaviors that they are engaged in themselves. This is a classic manipulation tactic.

Gaslighting tactics include:

Blatantly lying.

Splitting — pitting you against a friend or family member.

Working to align others against you.

Telling others that you are crazy, unstable, or manipulative.

Lying about things they said and did, even though you swear those things happened.

Telling you they don’t like your family and friends — but for vague reasons.

Many gaslighters...:

Cheat in relationships, yet accuse their victims of cheating.

Accuse their victims of being addicts, when they are the true addicts.

Accuse their victims of manipulation, when they are the ones who manipulate.

Gaslighters will accuse others of these actions even when there is direct evidence that they are engaging in the same behaviors. Why do gaslighters do this? They are making pre-emptive strikes and/or projecting.

Pre-Emptive Strike

First, the pre-emptive strike tactic. The gaslighter is cheating: They are planning secret meetings with their lovers, and getting a rush from it. They are invested in keeping up the charade. To keep you off kilter, they start accusing you of cheating. The goal is to keep you so busy defending yourself and being emotionally distraught that you don’t have enough time to pay attention to the gaslighter’s own behavior. By accusing you, the gaslighter has bought themselves time. The gaslighter can go as far as claiming they saw you out with someone — when in fact you were at home waiting for the gaslighter to show up late from work again. The gaslighter has you in a bind — you can’t prove that something never happened. But you try and try to prove to them that you did nothing wrong — though whatever evidence you produce is not good enough for the gaslighter. You become more concerned about being falsely accused than paying attention to the gaslighter’s own behavior.

The gaslighter may even present “evidence” to others of being manipulated by his or her victim. This evidence may be completely fabricated by the gaslighter, or the gaslighter takes facts and manipulates them, or “forgets” to share them. For example, the gaslighter tells your friends that they are sure you are cheating because you “claimed” you were working late a few nights this week. You actually were working late a few nights this week — to earn extra money in overtime. But the gaslighter conveniently leaves this fact out when badmouthing you to your friends. When you remind the gaslighter that you told them you were working late, they deny you ever told them — and then bring up another reason why they are “convinced” you are cheating.

Let’s say the gaslighter in your life is addicted to heroin. You suspect they have stolen money from you to feed their addiction. Before even getting a chance to confront them, the gaslighter calmly tells you that they are concerned you are an alcoholic. You immediately go into defense mode — no one has ever accused you of this before, and it is a shock. It throws you into a tailspin. The gaslighter brings up times where they knew you were drunk — but you don’t recall any of these times. The gaslighter may even accuse you of blacking out, and claims that’s why you can’t remember. You start questioning your sanity — and this is exactly the goal of the gaslighter. Meanwhile, the gaslighter keeps using, and stealing.

Projecting

The gaslighter may accuse you of being manipulative because they are projecting — one of the most commonly-used defense mechanisms: I can’t own up to my behavior, so I’m going to put it on you. While a pre-emptive strike is a gaslighter’s conscious choice to manipulate you for their gain, projection can take place on a conscious or unconscious level. While some gaslighters are very aware that they are putting their behavior on someone else to get what they want, some who are projecting are not aware that they are doing it. In either case, projection is an unhealthy behavior and should not be tolerated.

Some gaslighters unconsciously project out of guilt or shame. In the case of narcissistic personality disorder, narcissists feel they are totally okay, and think that everyone else has a problem. This is called ego-syntonic behavior. It is very difficult to get a narcissistic gaslighter to get help through counseling, because they think you have the problem, not them. Projecting behavior can get to the point where a gaslighter delusionally believes that they are being persecuted by the victim, when in fact the opposite is true.

Whatever the origin of the gaslighter’s accusatory behavior, they are still 100 percent responsible for it. Treat all cases of accusations toward you as what they are — accusations, not facts. There is no need to spend extra energy trying to defend yourself; it will never be good enough. Instead, take a hard look at whether the behavior the gaslighter accuses you of is actually something they are doing. Don’t let smoke and mirrors get in the way of uncovering the gaslighter’s behavior for what it is — manipulation of you and others by way of accusation and distraction.

Dec. 7, 2020 at 8:36 p.m. EST

Pfizer has told the Trump administration it cannot provide substantial additional doses of its coronavirus vaccine until late June or July because other countries have rushed to buy up most of its supply, according to multiple individuals familiar with the situation.

That means the U.S. government may not be able to ramp up as rapidly as it had expected from the 100 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine that it purchased earlier this year, raising questions about whether it can keep to its aggressive schedule to vaccinate most Americans by late spring or early summer.

Trump administration officials denied there would be availability issues in the second quarter, citing other vaccines in the pipeline, but others said problems are possible.

“I’m not concerned about our ability to buy vaccines to offer to all of the American public,” Gen. Paul Ostrowski, who oversees logistics for Operation Warp Speed, the government’s initiative to expedite vaccine development, said in an interview Monday. “It’s clear that Pfizer made plans with other countries. Many have been announced. We understand those pieces.”

But several officials knowledgeable about the contracts said that supplies from other companies may be insufficient to fill the gap, depending on what other vaccines have been authorized by then.

Pfizer officials had urged Operation Warp Speed to initially purchase 200 million doses, or enough for the two-shot regimen for 100 million people last summer, according to people knowledgeable about the issue who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the situation. But the Warp Speed officials declined, opting instead for 100 million doses, they said.

“Anyone who wanted to sell us … without an [FDA] approval, hundreds of millions of doses back in July and August, was just not going to get the government’s money,” said a senior administration official.

But last weekend, with an FDA clearance expected any day, federal officials reached out to the company asking to buy another 100 million doses. By then, Pfizer said it had committed the supply elsewhere and suggested elevating the conversation to “a high level discussion,” said a person familiar with the talks who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to share the conversation.

Pfizer said the company would be able to provide only 50 million doses at the end of that quarter, and another 50 million doses in the third quarter, the individuals said.

The government had a different type of contract with Pfizer than with other companies involved with Operation Warp Speed, the administration’s effort to speed development of vaccines. Pfizer was the only company that did not take government money for research and development, which meant U.S. officials have had less insight into its decisions than it does with the other companies, said a senior administration official familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The government had purchased 100 million doses of Pfizer’s vaccine with an option to purchase another 500 million. Government officials believed at least some of those additional doses would be available when they went to purchase them, the official added.

Pfizer spokeswoman Amy Rose declined to confirm or deny the information and said that beyond the first 100 million doses the U.S. has secured, a separate agreement would have to be reached. “The company is not able to comment on any confidential discussions that may be taking place with the U.S. government,” Rose said.

President Trump is expected to sign an executive order Tuesday that would prioritize vaccinating Americans before providing doses to other countries, according to a senior administration official who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the plans. Fox News first reported the executive order. It is not clear whether the order is related to the Pfizer supply issue, or whether the president can prevent an American company from fulfilling lawful contracts with other countries. The order will be announced as part of a White House “vaccine summit” designed to highlight the administration’s accomplishments on vaccines.

“The executive order reaffirms to the American people that we are going to put America first,” said a senior administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the issue publicly.

The vaccine by Pfizer and German biotech firm BioNTech is expected to receive emergency authorization from the Food and Drug Administration in the next several days, and Moderna is lined up for clearance shortly after that. Shipments of the vaccines will begin within 24 hours of the approvals, federal officials have said.

Warp Speed officials hope that other companies with promising vaccine candidates — including Johnson & Johnson — will provide what’s needed but some of those companies are still conducting late-stage clinical trials, while others haven’t started them.

That means there are several weeks to months before the companies are ready to submit an application to the FDA for emergency authorization. One of the companies, AztraZeneca recently reported vaccine data that was encouraging, but experts raised questions about the data and what it meant about the efficacy of the vaccine.

Moncef Slaoui, chief science adviser to Warp Speed, said in an interview Monday that the U.S. government strategy was to spread its risk widely over many different types of vaccines from different manufacturers. He declined to comment on negotiations with any company, including Pfizer. **But he said he did not believe there would be any kind of vaccine “cliff,” where the available doses would fall off sharply.

Slaoui said that Johnson & Johnson was likely to report trial results in early January and be ready to ship doses in February, if its vaccine is authorized. He predicted that AstraZeneca’s trial would report results in late January or early February and potentially begin providing doses later that month.**

“Specifically this means we can have more Moderna vaccine doses, more Pfizer vaccine doses, more Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses and AstraZeneca doses for the foreseeable future,” Slaoui said. “We could have all of them. And for this reason, we feel confident we could cover the needs without a specific cliff … We have planned things in such a way as we would indeed avoid a cliff.”

The contract that Pfizer signed with the government in July was to deliver 100 million doses of a vaccine, and contained an option to request up to an additional 500 million doses. Those doses will begin being shipped to communities across the country within 24 hours of FDA approval, which could come as early as this week.

“Pfizer shall inform the Government of appropriate lead times based on purchase of raw materials, capacity reservation and other factors, and Pfizer and the Government shall mutually agree on an appropriate estimated delivery schedule,” the contract states.

“Recognizing the urgency of the need, our manufacturing teams have been working around-the-clock so we can bring the vaccine to the world as quickly, efficiently and equitably as possible,” Rose said.

Additional doses would be “subject to a separate and mutually acceptable agreement” and the company could not comment on confidential negotiations that might be taking place with the U.S. government, she said.

No agreements with Moderna beyond its initial contract have been announced, but the U.S. has the option to purchase 400 million additional doses, at a cost of $16.50 per dose.

Q Is there a global competition to develop this vaccine? Like if France develops it first, will they share it with us?

THE PRESIDENT: Yeah, if — and we have that very well worked out. Whoever gets it is going to be very proud to give it and develop it — they’ve developed it. And we’ll see what happens. We’ve got countries that are allies that are — we have some countries, frankly, that aren’t allies, where we’re working very closely together.

So we’re working together with many different countries. And again, we have no ego. We have no ego. Whoever gets it, we think it’s great. We’re going to work with them; they’re going to work with us. Likewise, if we get it, we’re going to be working with them. So it’s very important. It’s a very good question, actually.
