'Take the land': President Trump wants a border wall.

Immigration:'Take the land': President Trump wants a border wall. He wants it black. And he wants it by Election Day.

President Trump is so eager to complete hundreds of miles of border fence ahead of the 2020 presidential election that he has directed aides to fast-track billions of dollars' worth of construction contracts, aggressively seize private land and disregard environmental rules, according to current and former officials involved with the project.

He also has told worried subordinates that he will pardon them of any potential wrongdoing should they have to break laws to get the barriers built quickly, those officials said.

(snip) The president has told senior aides that a failure to deliver on the signature promise of his 2016 campaign would be a letdown to his supporters and an embarrassing defeat. With the election 14 months away and hundreds of miles of fencing plans still in blueprint form, Trump has held regular meetings at the White House to receive progress updates and hasten the pace, according to several people involved in the discussions.

When aides have suggested that some of his orders are illegal or unworkable, Trump has suggested he would pardon the officials if they would just go ahead, aides said. He has waved off worries about contracting procedures and the use of eminent domain, saying "take the land," according to officials present at the meetings.

I expect the courts will slow him down considerably in his efforts to seize land.

And on environmental issues as well.

An enterprise that encourages you to break the law for it's purposes?

In the NY/NJ area, they call that organized crime.

Except the Godfather in this case is protected by a chickenshit congress.

Urging people to break the law isn't a point? Stealing money from FEMA to pay for a wall nobody wants isn't a point? obtuse much?

Republicans pooh pooh Trump but if Obama or Hillary even suggested some of these things you would lose your fucking minds.

Lots of people want a border wall. Democrats included.
Yep. It's all in how you define "The Wall". A continuous 2000 mile long wall is dumb but big beautiful walls in strategic locations manned by border patrol agents is not only needed its logical and reasonable.

Trump conceded last year in an immigration meeting with lawmakers that a wall or barrier is not the most effective mechanism to curb illegal immigration, recognizing it would accomplish less than a major expansion of U.S. enforcement powers and deportation authority. But he told lawmakers that his supporters want a wall and that he has to deliver it.

I personally would prefer to bring all our troops home and set them up all along the border. That would be better than a wall.

Well I suggested a minefield and drones with flamethowers all livestreamed on a pay per view website that pays for it. But no one seemed to like that. Kinda like Survivor only if you make it through alive you get citizenship.

Simple solution: build the wall 2 feet over on the Mexico side of the border. What, realistically, could Mexico do about it? What pathetic imitation of a military they could possibly muster wouldn't last 5 minutes against ours. And if they try to make it a legal matter, we could just ignore it and refuse to recognize the courts of a third-world nation. They need to remember that their country exists because we allow it.

Great idea, let's not observe the sovereignty of another country's land, that can't possibly blow up on us down the road.

The new US-Middle East peace envoy will be a 30-year-old White House administrative assistant, President Donald Trump announced yesterday.

Avi Berkowitz, an assistant to White House senior advisor and Mr Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, will inherit the role from Jason Greenblatt, formerly Mr Trump’s real estate lawyer, after Mr Greenblatt announced yesterday he would step down.

Mr Berkowitz, who graduated from Harvard Law School in 2016, has no foreign policy experience. He joined the Trump campaign in 2016 and has since served as Mr Kushner’s right-hand-man in the administration.

A 2017 Business Insider profile of Mr Berkowitz quoted former White House spokeswoman Hope Hicks as saying his main duties were “daily logistics like getting coffee and coordinating meetings.”

A former employer said on Twitter Mr Berkowitz was “not very impressive and needed significant hand-holding to handle even simple assignments. But Mideast peace? I’m sure he’s got this!” Another Arab states expert described him as “a glorified intern”.

The appointment “demonstrates a lack of seriousness” in the administration’s approach to the peace plan and Mr Kushner’s complete dominance over the process, former Middle East advisor to the US defence department Jasmine El-Gamal told The Telegraph. “They are not even pretending otherwise by hiring a qualified person as an envoy.”
