Every American news media hours before the next landfall of even dinky storms. "HISTORIC, UNPRECEDENTED, CATASTROPHIC". Meanwhile, it's still early but the only casualties they are reporting are a.couple in SC injured when their car was flipped by a F0 tornado

I heard a guy on the 6 pm national news radio the night before Idalia hit. He was one of the reporters on sight as preparations were being made and he gave an update on everything. Toward the end he said that "it was safe to say that this would be a Devastating, Catastrophic and Life Threatening event!"
He must have had a thesaurus with him.

actually, the Cubans had this hurricane just a few days before us and they let it go and let it get much bigger before it hit us. We, on the other hand, weakened it substantially and turned it loose harmlessly in the Atlantic.
now, talk to me about the visibility outside north Texas this morning due to the Canadiard wildfires.

Way before my time, but it reminds me of Hurricane Camille back in the 60's. Public got so tired of the media squawking Danger about every little storm, a lot stayed home- even threw "Hurricane parties"
Camille grew to a monster cat 5 and hundreds died.
