Started my first batch of wine. So for the scorecard that'll be, wine, mead, beer, and one batch of moonshine. 60 pounds concord grapes and I'm doing a spontaneous fermentation. Should get 4 or 5 gallons of wine. If it sucks I'll break out the still and make brandy.

Just what was on the grapes skins. There is a disscusion going on that I'm finding talking about natural or cultured yeasts for wine. The spontaneous fermentation encourages 3 different genus of yeasts that create a greater depth of flavors. It was the reason for some areas having better wines than others. The cultured yeast are all of the same genus but give predictable results.

Same goes for cider. You can't buy pasteurized and get results.

Yeah, but I heard you were getting into metalwork. Was thinking Thor statues, horses running across the plains, things like that. Turns out it's to get the colors on the edge of flowers just perfect. I try not to judge.

Getting the coloring on the petals of a flower my sound silly to you but I can use the same technique to torch temper swords. The colors are signs of heat oxidation and each color has a specific heat range. When tempering something like a rapier I'm going to want a blue finish for increased springyness.
