Best portrayal of a psychopath on the screen
Can't decide who I think is best.
-Heath Ledger in Dark Knight
-Anthony Starr in The Boys
-Jack Nicholson in Shining
-David Howard Thornton in Terrifier. A lesser known performance but I'd argue the best ever killer clown
Honorable mention to Glenn Howerton in It's Always Sunny

Javier Bardem's character Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men is said to be one of the more accurate representations of a psychopath, but from your list, I would go with Anthony Starr in The Boys.
What if it was one guy with six guns?

Ken in Barbie. Have to be a psychopath to accept that role.

I think you can multiply the effects of a psychopathic performance by setting it in a much more innocent time. Shocking performance for it's time. Robert Mitchum- "Night of the Hunter"

Re: Best portrayal of a psychopath on the screen
Interesting.
The character was Roy the entire time and Roy was faking the character of Aaron. But to portray Aaron properly Roy (as Aaron) has to express regret, compassion and empathy. But a true psychopath can't even comprehend what regret, compassion and empathy are. So it's unlikely that Roy would be able to portray Aaron convincingly if Roy was a psychopath. So Roy was probably a sociopath.
Unless of course, Roy was lying when he said there never was an Aaron.

Sometime I need to re-watch that movie. The end was unexpected.Reservoir Dog wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 11:58 pmInteresting.
