I'm officially an old fart.
Alison is her name, she came in at 8lb 7oz after a difficult birth requiring a C-section. She's at this point in time now 13 hours old. Mother is doing well and my son did a very admirable job getting her through the whole ordeal. She was named after my daughter-in-law's beloved but deceased mother, and there is no better tribute than that. I'm so very proud of both of them and my new granddaughter.

Thanks, all! I'm going over to my son's house later to see her. I'll try to take a nice picture that doesn't include my horrid mug in it.
In full disclosure, human babies, esp just after birth, look basically like an old wrinkled potato you might find the back of the pantry while hunting up an onion or a can of Spam. I wanted to give he a little time to flesh out and let her and her mom get to know each other better.
I'm going over to my son's house later to see her.
