NEW GAME: If you could only pick one stock for 2023

All the news from the peanut gallery and where all the nasty trash talk fails miserably.

shit, i forgot. i don't have the excel spreadsheet here.

BUT, i will say this. I looked at it mid day yesterday and Nvidia on Geist's holding was up almost exactly 100% for the year. Its probably around 90% right now. Its a race for 2nd place right now. Unless the profit takes jump in or they find a bug in these gaming chips that the AI guys are wanting to buy.

Netflix Password Sharing Crackdown Sees Over 200,000 New Subscribers Sign Up

"Netflix has raked in hundreds of thousands of new account signups since it started charging people extra if they have other users on their account.
Cancellations have also gone up since Netflix changed its policy on who you can have on your account, but not as much as new signups."

yeah, it so weird. people seem glad to be finally doing it in a legitimate way and don't mind paying more.

i heard a news story this morning of a restaurant (or coffee shop or some place) that has completely banned tipping. Their customers were complaining, the employees were complaining about unfairness in tips and the awkwardness of it at checkout. so they gave all employees an hourly wage of $21/hr or more and health benefits and raised their prices to customers. the actual price customers pay isn't really more, its just they no longer pay tips. Anyway, they are doing more business than ever.

It's my prediction that restaurant service will deteriorate with the absence of tipping.

I think this sudden "tipping backlash" is due to two things. First, prices for food services just soared after Covid. A lunch that used to cost under $10 is now almost $20. Its just insane how much that has jumped. And obviously, with tips being a percentage, that just compounds the problem even more.

And, I think the credit card or online purchase apps have taken advantage of this source of income. Along with the charges, they can automatically add the tip to the amount due and pick up another 20% in fees that they charge for the transactions. Pennies make dimes, and that's how these massive transaction companies make profits.

Correct. Take away the incentive of a possibly better tip and and welcome to the "Service just good enough to not get fired" club.

that's how most employer/employee relationships work. what separates the good companies are the employers that know that balance and strive for it.

shit, i could have done this an hour ago, but i already left the office for the week-end. I will update it in a few days. I know you are still in the lead. I think 2nd place changed. Netflix and Amazon have both been on the rise, along with Tesla. But I want to say #2 changed to ROOT. (which was way down today, I think).

You know their tech can tell which side of the car you get out of? I'll never let the Root app on my phone. The data they track and store gives Google a run for their money.
