It's someone else's responsibility. Per usual with people of your mindset.

I have yet to see a truly objective comparison of all the cost involved in electric versus fossil fuel vehicle’s. You see snippets of information that try to prove one of you or the other. If you limit your view to the vehicle only yes electric is less polluting. Until you add in the cost of the used batteries that can’t be recharged and are not currently being recycled. Or the fact that some insurance companies are starting to shy way from ensuring electric vehicles because of the cost of repairs. not a Watching the lack of range of her EV’e The lack of infrastructure to charge EV’s rapidlysaltydog wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 5:24 pmFuck the environment, right?Animal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 5:01 pmyeah, too much laughing to get any work done.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 4:23 pmAnimal already said his foremen are not going to be happy about gas trucks (Lower power), they would go ape-shit over electric.

You can root-root all you want for electric but this isn't a leisure ride down the California coastal highway, stopping occasionally for a charge up while you enjoy your latte. They are called "work" trucks" for a reason. Heavy duty work pulling massive loads sometimes in the middle of nowhere 100 miles from any charging station.Animal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 5:01 pmyeah, too much laughing to get any work done.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 4:23 pmAnimal already said his foremen are not going to be happy about gas trucks (Lower power), they would go ape-shit over electric.

I drove a diesel truck for 20+ years and I always had to kind of think about my route to make sure there was diesel when I needed it. I can't imagine what the EV owners have to plan for.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 7:32 pmYou can root-root all you want for electric but this isn't a leisure ride down the California coastal highway, stopping occasionally for a charge up while you enjoy your latte. EV infrastructure is (at least what I can see) 2 decades before they can even approach fossil fuels. Think about it. You can fill up (and shop prices) anywhere and everywhere for gas/diesel (including higher octane gas if you want) from Nome Alaska to the tip of the Florida Keys.Animal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 7:38 pmI drove a diesel truck for 20+ years and I always had to kind of think about my route to make sure there was diesel when I needed it. That's kind of incredible when you stop to consider that they've only had a 100 year head start.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 7:50 pmEV infrastructure is (at least what I can see) 2 decades before they can even approach fossil fuels. I never thought id buy electric. I have a ford lightning and its lightyears better then my raptor (i dont drive it anymore) and its a 2020. I will sell it to make room in the driveway. my wife drives a tesla and honestly that may be the fastest car i have ever driven. For the record i also have a gt350 shelby that doesn't really get driven anymore either. The towing power of electric is pretty bad ass. As i understand it most commercial companies are going electric. My father was a long-haul truck driver and I grew up in a diesel. There is not much of a comparison based on today's technology. Diesel will be a thing of the past over the next 20 years.CentralTexasCrude wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 9:19 pmAnd here we are 150 years later and it's the same problem- the batteries. That's kind of what I have been thinking. Everything about an electric engine makes it seem as though it would be a better fit for large engine machinery. I guess its the batteries. I know this, the low cost of running a diesel is long gone. there are no advantages to that anymore. And the big iron guys used to only buy american, but that is long gone now. most of the big equipment companies end in vowels now.pork wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 10:01 pm I never thought id buy electric. I have no doubt the future belongs to electrical. That's a good thing. It's just when Governments (Local-Feds) start pushing with regulations, timetables, etc. that you know it's time to slow the F down, research the issues yourself before you even think about taking that plunge. Governments are the opposite of innovation. Didn't used to be that way.pork wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 10:01 pmI never thought id buy electric. American manufacturing isn't known for it's efficiency of products since corporations realized there's zero profit in a cure. Just keep dragging 'em back year after year because nothing's built to last anymore.Animal wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 10:04 pmThat's kind of what I have been thinking.
